(see photo above) convened in Itaipu, Brazil, in May 2016 to
participate in the workshop
The workshop is the secondl networking meetings to
be held under the auspices of the project, "Advancing Good Practices in
Building Interdisciplinarity: Moving Towards User-Oriented Science,"
supported by the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research
(IAI).
The goal of this workshop was to develop an interdisciplinary agenda for action that can help identify opportunities for cooperative management of the Uruguay River basin.
Several workshop participants made presentations articulating scientific and policy issues around our two key priority dimensions: (1) land use, water and related infrastructure, and (2) transboundary basin governance (see below).
As a result of the workshop, the collaborative network was strengthened. In addition, challenges to and opportunities for cooperation on the two key priority dimensions were outlined.
The workshop is the second activity of a three-year joint research project managed by the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona (Andrea Gerlak, co-PI), and the Department of International Relations of FLACSO/Argentina – Latin American School of Social Sciences (Marcelo Saguier, co-PI) and funded by the IAI.
